REMO World is engineered with Privacy-by-Design. We collect the absolute minimum data required to deliver world city exploration, with zero advertising tracker brokers.
1. Data Minimization (What We Collect vs What We Never Collect)
- Your legal last name or family name.
- Your home address, phone number, or date of birth.
- Government identification or financial banking credentials.
The Only Data We Process:
- Email Address: Used solely for account authentication, security alerts, and password recovery. We verify emails to prevent spam and fake accounts.
- Creator Display Name (Pseudonym): The public handle you choose to represent yourself across world city feeds. You can change it at any time in your Passport settings.
- City Affiliation: Your chosen home city and passport citizen number.
- User-Generated Content: The photos, captions, and city radio moments you deliberately choose to share publicly.
2. Geolocation Privacy & City Proximity Safeguards
We believe your real-time physical whereabouts belong to you alone. REMO World does not conduct continuous background GPS tracking.
- City-Level Verification: When you tap "Verify Local Citizen", your browser calculates mathematical distance (Haversine formula) to verify whether you are within the metropolitan radius (~35 km) of that city. Only the result (Verified: Yes/No) is recorded.
- Precise Coordinates: Exact latitude and longitude are never shared publicly unless you explicitly opt to attach an optional GPS verification seal to a 3D city card you create.
3. Zero Third-Party Ad-Tracker Brokers
REMO World does not sell, lease, or monetize your personal information with third-party advertising brokers or data harvesters. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies. Storage on your device (localStorage and Firebase session) is strictly functional for maintaining your logged-in state and language preferences.
4. Right to be Forgotten (One-Click Account Deletion)
In full compliance with European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Québec Law 25, you have complete control over your digital footprint:
- Self-Serve Account Purge: Navigate to your Citizen Passport settings and click "Delete My Account & Personal Data".
- Instant Deletion: Your email, profile, collected cards, direct messages, and uploaded moments are permanently deleted from our active databases.
5. Real Email Verification & Security Measures
To preserve community authenticity and prevent bot swarms, REMO World validates email addresses during registration. Temporary disposable inbox providers are blocked, and email ownership is validated via secure verification codes or verified Google Identity tokens.
6. Security Safeguards & Data Storage
Your account credentials and database records are hosted on encrypted, enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud & Netlify) with SSL/TLS encryption in transit, strict Content Security Policies, and access-controlled Firestore security rules.
